A natural soap alternative.
A certified organic, hypoallergenic laundry soap, body wash, shampoo and household cleaner. Wildcrafted Nepalese Soap Nuts are harvested from the Soap Berry tree (Sapindus mukorossi) in Nepal's high Himalayas, where it is optimal for growing Soap Nuts with the highest concentration of natural saponins (soap) in the world. They are de-seeded by hand and placed in the sun to dry.
Soap Nuts have exceptional cleaning power, remove tough odors and eliminate the need for fabric softener. Their mildness will keep colours bright, maintaining the fabric structure of your clothes for longer periods. They can be used on all fabrics and at all temperatures.
Soap Nuts are a completely renewable, environmentally friendly, biodegradable material that can be composted once used.
HOW TO USE SOAP NUTS
Shells: Place 4 - 5 soap nuts in a wash bag and add to your laundry. Reuse the soap nuts 4-5 times. You will know the soapnuts need to be replaced when they become thin and dull with no shiny pockets of saponin left in them. Washing at lower temperatures, the soapnuts can be used more often. (based on an average to large load of laundry)
Liquid: Use 2 to 3 tablespoons of soap nuts liquid for a large load of laundry. (If your laundry feels a little stiff upon completion of the cycle, you've used too much!)
Soap Nuts Liquid Recipe
- 15-20 soap nuts
- 6 cups of water (plus more as you’re boiling)
- Sterilized container to hold the liquid
Boil the soap nuts in the 6 cups of water for about 20 minutes. Add another cup of water. Boil for 10 minutes. Add another 2 cups of water and boil again for 10 minutes. Strain the nuts from the liquid and store in the sterilized container. It’s best to store the straight liquid in the refrigerator, as it will turn rancid after a while. Keeps in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. Note: As you’re boiling the liquid, keep an eye on it. Otherwise, it will start to suds a little and might boil over.
